Jason Jameson Lands in Lake Cumberland Speedway Victory Lane for First Career SAS Win

Jason Jameson secured his first career Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises triumph on Saturday night in front of a standing-room-only crowd at Lake Cumberland Speedway!  By virtue of earning Fast Time honors overall and in Group B, along with winning his heat race, Jason started the 14th edition of the ‘Harold Hardgrove Memorial’ from the outside of the front row.  Jason then tracked down polesitter and early race leader Jimmy Owens to grab the point on the twenty-fourth circuit and never looked back.

The Lawrenceburg, Indiana native fought back all challenges during the second half of the 50-lapper to bag the $12,022 first place prize money.  Finishing 1.822 seconds back at the unfurling of the checkered flag was sixteenth-starting Devin Gilpin, of Columbus, Indiana.  Devin nipped Newport, Tennessee ace Jimmy Owens at the stripe to earn the runner-up spot and the $6,000 payday.  Owens, who paced the ‘Harold Hardgrove Memorial’ feature field for the first 23 laps, limped to the checkers with a tire going down and settled for a third place podium performance.  Zack Dohm, who battled back from being collected in a lap-30 tangle, finished in the fourth position, while Oakley Johns nabbed the final spot inside of the top five.

“It feels awesome - it is kinda like a hometown crowd here from Campbellsville, so I’m glad to be able to get it done for them,” quoted the winning Jameson in victory lane at the Burnside, Kentucky facility.  “I’ve got to thank James and Justin Rattliff for everything, I hate that deal happened taking Justin out.  Me and Camaron (Marlar) got together getting into turn one and it knocked the whole front end out from underneath this thing.  Just hard racing, I think he was just trying to capitalize on that lapped car slowing me up.  I’ll take it and move on - this car has been on fire since we got it brand new.”

Jason Jameson piloted a JRR Motorsports #12 Longhorn Chassis with sponsorship in part from Grant Lee Farms, JRR Motor Sales, MGL Auto Sales, JRR Trucking, Keltner Contracting, The Auto Outlet, VP Racing Fuels, Earnhardt Technologies, New Point Lighting and Design, Antonio’s Pizza Pub, Kleinholz Electric, and Hoosier Racing Tires.

A 22 car field - with drivers from seven different states, along with Australia and New Zealand, assembled at Lake Cumberland Speedway for the ‘Harold Hardgrove Memorial’ despite a threatening weather forecast.  Jason Jameson dominated preliminary action by topping the speed chart in both MRP Fantasy Racing hot laps and VP Racing Fuels time trials.  The pair of heat races were won by Jimmy Owens and Jameson.  The 50-lap headliner lasted 35 minutes in length with ten starters completing the entire distance.

With thirteen rounds of Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises action now in the books for 2025, three more shows await the tour over the busy Labor Day holiday weekend.  The $4,004 to win ‘Brad York Memorial’ will kick things off this Friday, August 29 at Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Georgia.  Saturday’s program will take place at the ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee and a $4,000 payday will be on the line in the recently added race.  The tripleheader holiday weekend finale - the 17th Annual ‘Buddy Rogers Memorial’ - will be held on Sunday, August 31 at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee paying $5,000 to the winner.
