Heavy Overnight Rainfall Forces Cancellation of SAS Thursday Night Thunder at North Georgia Speedway

After heavy overnight rain, North Georgia Speedway and Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series officials are unfortunately forced to cancel tonight’s scheduled racing action at the Chatsworth, Georgia oval.  With two failed attempts to beat Mother Nature on March 7 and March 12, the $7,000 to win SAS program will not be rescheduled.  North Georgia Speedway will now shift their season opener to a regular weekly show this Saturday, March 14.

The weekly divisions that will be in action on Saturday at North Georgia Speedway will be Late Models, 604 Late Models, 602 Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Front Wheel Drives, and Stock FWDs.  Pit gates will open at 2:00pm and the grandstands will start to allow fans into the venue at 3:00pm.  The drivers meeting is set for 5:30pm with hot laps slated for 6:00pm.

Grandstand admission for the weekly season opener will be $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for kids ages 5-11.  Pit admission will be $35.00 for adults and $15.00 for kids ages 5-11.  Children ages 4 and under will be allowed onto the grounds for FREE.  North Georgia Speedway is located at 300 North Georgia Raceway Road in Chatsworth, Georgia.  For more information on this show, please contact 828-360-5353 or visit www.northgeorgiaspeedway.net.

For the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Showtime Properties, the focus will now shift to a big doubleheader in the Palmetto State on March 20-21.  Up next will be a visit to the newly-reopened Modoc Speedway in Modoc, South Carolina next Friday for the $10,004 to win ‘Ed Basey Memorial.’  On Saturday, the dirt-slinging action will quickly shift to the renowned Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina for the annual running of ‘March Madness,’ which will boast a hefty $20,053 winner’s check.  Both races will be co-sanctioned with the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series.
